There are some two dozen of them in manynurseries, from which one may select a half dozen sodistinct as to call for the placing of them on onesgrounds. They run through many shades of color,among others, red, white, rose and pink. The specimen photographed is D. Candida, a white-fiowered sort. Its character of growth is well shown inthe illustration. It is a free, strong grower, muchstronger than those of medium growth such as D. rosearepresents. As is well known, many of the eolored-fiowered Dier-villas are white when expanded; rosea, for instance, isrose-colored in the bud but white when in full our D. Candida the flower iswhite in all its stages of de-velopment. White Diervillas are not asnumerous as the colored years ago there was alow-growing, spreading variety,called in those days Weigeiahortens
