William Gladstone (1809-1898). British statesman and Liberal politician. Meeting held in Greenwich on September 8, 1876 under the presidency of Gladstone, who addressed his voters explaining the atrocities committed by the Turks in Bulgaria. After the act it was agreed to send a message to the Queen and the Government of England, asking for the complete cessation of the Turkish administration in the provinces of Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
