The picture was taken shortly after sunrise on Prerow Beach in a westerly direction. In the opposite direction is the place Prerow. The wide, white sandy beach of Prerow runs on the right edge of the picture to the horizon. Prerow is a seaside resort on the Baltic Sea between the cities of Rostock and Stralsund. The Baltic Sea resort of Prerow is surrounded by the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park. The Ostseebad Prerow is a municipality in Darß / Fischland in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Most of it is on the Darß, a smaller part on the Zingst peninsula, both parts of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula.
