A gold-inlaid and silver-mounted Caucasian shashka, circa 1880, Slightly curved, single-edged blade with non-identical triple fullers on both sides and gold-damascened calligraphic cartouche on the obverse side of the root. Shagreen leather covered wood scabbard with silver furniture finely engraved and nielloed en suite. Length 96 cm. Finely crafted and (aside from a small chipping at the pommel) excellently preserved shashka.
