Now place the left handcovering the back of right, as ifyou were going to remove thecigarette; but under cover of this movement, the right-handfingers must be bent toward the palm until the unliglitedend of the cigarette can be gripped bythe base of the thumb (see secondillustration). The fingers shouldthen be straightened and openedout, leaving the cigarette thumb-palmed, while the left hand iscarried away as if containing the cigarette, which canbe vanished and produced according to the
