Female urial sheep, Sham Valley, near Hemis Shukpachan, Ladakh, India


Hemis-Shukpachan or Hemishok Pachan is a small traditional village in the Leh district of Jammu and Kashmir, India, known for its monastery with its golden Buddha. It is at an elevation of ~3500m, along the route of the Sham Valley trek. Ibex and urial sheep (Ovis orientalis vignei) live in the area.
