The skeleton of a child re-poses on a heap of stones: a young woman stoops over it inthe act of depositing a funeral fillet. A touching explanationof this singular subject has been proposed,—that it representsthe discovery of a child, who had perished in the earthquake,by the mother, who is now rendering the last service in herpower.
