June 2022 Sydney, Australia: A new sculpture has been unveiled on the Tarpeian Precinct lawns on the headland overlooking Dubbagullee (Bennelong Point and the Sydney Opera House). Bara, a marble sculpture by Aboriginal artist Judy Watson is a major new permanent artwork to celebrate the First Peoples of Sydney, the traditional custodians of Gadigal Country. Bara is a representation of shell hooks that were used by centuries of local indigenous women to catch fish in the harbour.
