The McCoys also belonged to the clan of Sutherland. Thisfact I learned some years since while in Scotland. Some eighteen years ago I met a of Sutherlandsliving near Drakesville, Davis Co., Iowa. This mans wifesmaiden name was McCoy, and they came originally from Wy-oming Valley, Pa. From the history obtained from this fam-ily, I was satisfied at the time they were of the same stock ofour ancestors, William and others, who came to America 1772. Some of the proof of the above lies in the fact that JohnW. McCoy, now living at South Omaha, Nebr., son of RobertMcCoy, remembers hearing his father talking of his uncle,Alexander McCoy, of Brown Co., Ohio, and I have statementsof Angus S. Thom, of Minonk, 111.,
