Bryn yr Hen Bobl Neolithic burial chamber, Anglesey, Wales, UK: view NW of the central megalithic chamber & forecourt on the E side of the cairn. The chamber was closed by a tall slab (now broken) with two natural perforations reminiscent of megalithic porthole entrances & holes for offerings. The kidney-shaped cairn has an unusual long narrow terrace running S from the S side horn. Finds from C20th excavations include human remains, pottery, stone axes & a hone, flint tools, animal bones, shells & charcoal. The site - Hill of the Old People - is on private land within Plas Newydd Park owned by the Marquess of Anglesey. This photograph was taken, with permission, in April 2006. The forecourt area has been fenced & gated.
