Leaning House Raekoja Town Hall Square

The late 18th century building is called the Barclay House after Duchess Barclay who bought the house in 1819 after the death of her husband, Barclay de Tolly. The longitudinal wall of the building toward the river was built on the basis of the old town wall, while the other side was built on woode piles. The latter eventually sank, giving the house a noticeable lean. Inside Tartu Art Museum
