Dimitar Hadjivasilev's Trade School of Economics, architectural detail, Svishtov, Peter Paul Brang, Viennese architect, Bulgaria, Eastern Europe

Dimitar Hadjivasilev State High School of Economics is the first vocational school in Bulgaria, and its history began ten years before its Patron’s donation. At the end of the 19th century Svishtov was a well-known trade city. In the winter of 1891 a contest was appointed for creating the blueprints of the future school building. Many Bulgarian and foreign architects took part in it, and many of the projects were full of style and originality. The greatest impression made the Austrian architect Paul Brang, who presented the future building as a reduced copy of the Vienna State University.
