Greece, Milos island. Mines or quarries on the inland of the island, close to Aghia Eirini church.

The inland of Milos is full of mines of any kind. Some are old, some still functioning, there are even some ancient ones. The life of the Melian people is tightly connected with the mines, the mineral and the geological wealth of the island since the prehistoric years, when the obsidian from Milos was used for manufacturing tools, all around the Aegean. These mines that you see here are among the largest of Milos (really huge), and they are located somewhere above the Agia Eirini church, on the road between Adamas and Pollonia. They are well hidden and you 'll have to do a little searching if you want to find. Here you can see only a small part of those mines, that look like a landing runway for spaceships, or extraterrestrial amphitheater
