A French late Gothic casket with a roof-shaped lid, circa 1500 Rectangular wooden casket with finely punched leather covering. Elaborately worked iron fittings ending in stylised blossoms and leaves. A movable carrying handle on the lid, the ends shaped like acorns. Original lock on the front side, reworked during the time of use to apply a padlock. The interior is lined with decorative paper from the 18th century, the bottom with slight worm damage.
