Clary, the second of the family, waseducated in the district schools and no eventoi special importance occurred to vary the rou-tine of farm life for him in his boyhood andyouth. lie worked in the fields when not en-gaged with the duties of the schoolroom andin 1881 he began farming on Ids own four and a half miles northwest ofPetersburg, where he remained for a fewyears, lie then sold that property and bought.
