25/09/15 Steam trains use the turntable in Britain's only remaining operational roundhouse at Barrow Hill. The three day event "Barrow Hill ’65 – the London Midland Region Steam Gala of the Year" which started today, marks fifty years since the last regular steam train left the LMS (London Midland and Scottish) yard near Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The locomotives on show for the steam gala weekend are a mix of passenger and freight steam engines, all looking and numbered as they would have been in September 1965. Main line locomotives are still serviced in the depot today. All Rights Reserved: F Stop Press Ltd. +44(0)1335 418365 +44 (0)7765 242650
