A Saxony's miner's axe, 2nd half of the 17th century. Perforated iron blade, with a brass finial set on the upper point of the blade. Walnut handle with richly engraved and blackened bone inlays. The back of the handle bears a crucifix, with two kneeling worshipers next to it. The sides display inlays of St. Veronica and Christ with the "Arma Christi" surrounded by baroque floral ornamentation. The grip cap shows crossed clubs and the Saxon Electorate's coat of arms.
