Friedrich Schiller, Bertel Thorvaldsen, 1770-1844, No later than September 9, 1836, Sculpture, Statue, Schiller is regarded as one of the greatest classical German poets. He was born in what is today known as the State of Baden-Württemberg, the capital of which, Stuttgart, wished to commemorate its famous citizen.
