USS MAKIN ISLAND, Indian Ocean (November 24, 2016) A Marine with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit is served turkey during a festive dinner held on Thanksgiving Day aboard the USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Nov. 24, 2016. Although deployed at sea, the Marines and Sailors of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group/11th MEU came together for merriment and camaraderie to celebrate the holiday by taking part in a five kilometer run on the flight deck of the ship, followed by a dinner held for the crew in the evening.
