A view from Puu Jih Shih Temple across a Buddhist swastika design and over the harbour at Sandakan Sabah Malaysia

A swastika cut into grass in the grounds of Puu Jih Shih Temple, on a hillside above the harbour at Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. An extremely ancient religious symbol used by Hinduism, Taoism and Buddhism, the swastika is commonly seen in the Far East. It should not be confused with the Nazi swastika, which is the reverse of this traditional form, and which was usurped from the Eastern religions by the Nazis.
