Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Dampwood termite head (Zootermopsis sp.). Zootermopsis is a genus of termites (Isoptera) in the family Termopsidae. This termite is know as a dampwood termite. They are found in temperate rain forests of western North America. Zootermopsis angusticollis is the Pacific dampwood termite and it is the largest and the most significant dampwood termite in the United States.
