RETINA, ILLUSTRATION
Illustration of the retina. The light arrives on the retina, photoreceptors (orange cells) transform the light beam into an electrical signal. Several messages are condensed and regulated while they cross the retina (red arrow) to the retinal ganglion cells (green cells) whose long terminals make up the fibres of the optic nerve. Visual information leaves the eye for the brain via them.
