PORTLAND, Ore. (April 21, 2018) Deputy Chief of Naval Operations Vice Adm. Dixon Smith provides remarks during the amphibious transport dock ship USS Portland (LPD 27) commissioning ceremony, April 21. Portland is the Navy’s 11th San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship. It is the third ship to bear the name USS Portland, however it is the first ship to be named solely for Oregon’s largest city.
