Our object in printing the screws is to afford the eye of the reader a measure of comparison with thesedifferent grains. For example, in the above photograph the sample No. 5 is Kaffir corn. By comparing theKaffir corn with the screws, the eye of the observer fnrm-i a corrct estimate of the size of the Kaffir corn and alsothe other grains in the other pictures.
