Arezzo. Hermitage of Camaldoli entrance .

The hermitage of Camaldoli is a religious building located near the locality of the same name, in the province of Arezzo and diocese of Arezzo-Cortona-Sansepolcro at about 1,100 meters above sea level, within the national park of Casentinesi Forests, Monte Falterona and Campigna . Founded by San Romualdo in the early 11th century, the mother house of the Benedictine Congregation of the Camaldolese, it is very close to the administrative border between the Tuscan province of Arezzo and the Romagna province of Forlì-Cesena, about 45 km from Arezzo and 80 km from Forlì. Today the hermitage of Camaldoli is one of the two lungs with which the monastic community present there breathes: in fact, the monastery and the hermitage rise a short distance from each other, whose monks belong to the same community, live the same rule , but follow somewhat different lifestyles, giving more space to community life at the monastery and favoring personal recollection at the hermitage. There are nine monks who live at the hermitage. The hermitage, entirely surrounded by a stone wall, overlooks the street with a door, through which you enter the internal courtyard. Read more:
