This smasher manta shrimp (Squilla empusa) was emerging from its burrow. These shrimps have very powerful claws, which are club-like and are used to crack open molluscs and crustaceans. They are said to have one of the fastest strikes in the animal kingdom: up to ten metres per second. Their remarkable eyes (the two pink orbs) provide superb vision.
