Powdery mildew on Rose leaves (Rosa sp.). Powdery mildew is caused by the fungus Spaerotheca pannosa. The fungus overwinters as mycelium in infected shoots and dormant buds. In the spring, infected shoots begin to grow, releasing spores which infect new parts of the plant.
