Bender, Republic of Moldova, Memorial to the Transnistria conflict


, Moldova, Transnistria, Bender - Part of the memorial for the Transnistria conflict, a stylized skeleton of a chapel with a bronze bell. Transnistria is a Moldavian partial republic under the Russian influence east of the river Dnister. The region split in 1992 after a war lasting several months from Moldova and is not recognized by any other country. Even the Russian-dependent entity is known as the Transdnestrovian Moldavian Republic (Pridnestrovkaja Moldavskaja Respublika / PMR). Bender is the second largest city in the region.
