The Lungarni ("along the Arno": Arno river banks) are the true city center, a meeting place for Pisans and university students. Along the river banks there are many café and pubs and during the summer the area is closed to traffic, attracting many young people. The Lungarni are also the site of the museum circuit 'I Musei del Lungarno' which has 6 museums of national interest.
