It isroughly estimated that there are 3,000acres of tomatoes under cultivation onthe island. That is a bumper productionfor that section and gives promise ofsome remarkable packing results, if nountoward circumstances intervene to in-jure the prospects. At a rough computa-tion an acre of tomatoes, at conserva-tive figures, should yield 300 cases ofpacked tomatoes, or a total of 900,000cases from the county alone. Last yearthe total pack of the county was 1,250,-000 cases, and that represented a veryheavy pack of other lines as well as to-matoes, this section being about the onlyone that came through last season witha creditable showing for production.
