Mitoxantrone molecule, space-filled model. Mitoxantrone is a type II topoisomerase inhibitor that disrupts DNA synthesis and DNA repair in both healthy cells and cancer cells. It is used to treat certain types of cancer, mostly metastatic breast cancer, acute myeloid leukaemia, and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Is also used to treat multiple sclerosis and prostate cancer. The atoms are colour-coded: carbon and hydrogen (white), nitrogen (blue), oxygen (red).
