Sufficient to say that the127th Regiment has gained an enviable reputation in thehistory of the war, and shines as a glittering star in thatgreat contest between the North and the South, in the in-terest of the emancipation of a down-trodden and forlornrace, and the perpetuity of our government. We rejoicein the propriety of our governments great triumph,and the success of our army in the interest of freedomand civilization, the result of that great contest, and wedeplore the great sacrifice and loss of life and treasure inthe accomplishment for that purpose.
