WITHCRAFT - JANE SHORE Two engraved portraits of the supposed witch, Jane Shore, by the engraver F. Bartolozzi. The great beauty, Jane Shore, became the mistress of King Edward IV. When King Richard came to the throne, she was charged - but acquitted - by the State Council for witchcraft and sorcery. She was required to do penance, by walking through London on bare feet, carrying a lighted candle. See Thompson, The Witchery of Jane Shore, 1933.
