As has been done on farms for hundreds of years, a woman picks rocks from a field by hand and uses horses to haul the rocks away.
Hilary Crowell works as an apprentice at one of the farms that have been protected by The Maine Farmland Trust. The Maine Farmland Trust is helping multi-generation farms to continue to thrive as well as helping young farmers to get into the business of farming. This process of preserving farms is not only keeping the agricultural culture alive and well in the state of Maine, it is also providing healthy, often organic, locally grown foods for Maine people.
