Byurakan Observatory. View of the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory, Mount Aragats, Armenia, at night. This metre astronomical telescope is owned and operated by the Armenian Academy of Sciences. On the left are rising stars of the constellation Perseus. In the middle is the large observatory dome, backlit by lights from nearby Yerevan, Armenia's capital city. Above the dome is the bright, giant star Enif in Pegasus. Farther to the right, the bright point just above the clouds is Jupiter. At the far right, the Moon is nearly hidden by an approaching cloudbank, but the clouds themselves cast shadows in the bright moonlight, creating the effect of Moon rays across the evening sky.
