No games of chance, or cards, or dice are allowed in it; nor are any intoxicating drinks to be introduced, except at dinner or supper time. The cabman last on the stand is required to lock the less than £20 in building and furnishing; and who, when catching a glimpse through the half-opened door of the pleasant, well-lighted interior, but must regret that he had no part in this cheap luxury. It is to be hoped that such shelters will become general, wherever the neighbourhood of cabstands will admit of their construction'. From "Illustrated London News", 1862.
