Third Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms. Frederick Blankner, Third Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms, was born in Germany,July 28, 1836. One year later his parents moved to America and settled in Columbus,Ohio, where he has since resided. For two years he served in Co. A, 5th Battalion,0. V. I. In 1856 he was appointed porter in the House of Representatives and twicewas re-appointed to that position, after which he was elected Third Assistant Ser-geant-at-Arms, which office he has held continuously to the present time, his valuableservices being recognized by both political parties.
