A busy man is always late with cour- tesies, and so I am late with an answer to an open letter printed in a recent issue of The Review. A gentleman whom I do not know and whom I did not know about aa being connected with the flower busi- ness wrote me. I consider his letter a "punch"—not a "punch" to put me to sleep, but a "punch" to wake me up, to make me try to do better than I have previously. And for this * * punch- ing" of me into condition I want to thank him openly. It is rather hard for me to thank Mr. Hastings for the good opinion he has of my little effort to make up for a seeming neglect, but it sometimes happens, as with every business man, that I once in a while put things off from time to time, and when I do get a chance to attend to them I always try to give those con- cerned a clear view of the facts which prevented me from doing what I should have done.
