The large group moved in by driving over footpath near to a child play park. The group started to arrive with one or two van now the green is full of caravans,tarmac trucks,transit van and energy installation wagaons. Gosport,Hampshire Friday 6th May 2016 More than 30 travellers have taken over a large piece of Green at the rear of DC Leisure Complex Forest Way, Gosport. The large group moved in by driving over footpath near to a child play park. The group started to arrive with one or two van now the green is full of caravans,tarmac trucks,transit van and energy installation wagaons. A washing line has been erected near to the five aside football pitches. Staff at the leisure complex seem to turning a blind eye. Police arrived on the site early this morning and spoke with people who have taken up resident. Notices to quit have also been attached to a barrier that has been damaged by having its lock broken. The legal action, by Gosport Borough Council, has cost taxpayers £2,000 so far with counting the clear up operation when they are finally moved on. In a letter signed off by ‘concerned residents’, it said there needed to be ‘serious sanctions for such disrespectful behaviour’. Local resident,believes the mess the traveler was left by the travellers, has called the council to take ‘tougher action’. A Gosport Borough Council spokeswoman said: “The police ordered the travellers to leave the site. We have issued a notice for the travellers to quit. We are aware of the fly-tipping on the site and officers from the council have been sent down to the site to investigate @UKNIP
