SP Joseph C. Kemper loads white phosphorous rockets onto the wing tip of a single-engine Bird Dog observation plane in Vietnam on January 11, 1966. The rockets were used to pinpoint Viet Cong positions when requesting Marine artillery barrages or air strikes against the enemy in American military activities during the Vietnam War.
