The British Reoccupation of Burma Japanese prisoners of war returning under Operation Nipoff, the scheme devised to repatriate 35,000 prisoners, bath in disinfectant to kill off lice and other disease carrying parasites prior to boarding a ship. Operation Nipoff was directed by Headquarters Burma Command but administered by the Japanese themselves through their former Burma Area Army Headquarters staff.
