Micronesian Imperial-Pigeon, Ducula oceanica (Carpophaga oceanica, Oceanic fruit pigeon), native to Micronesia. Handcoloured steel engraving by William Lizars after an illustration by Edward Lear from Prideaux John Selby's volume "Pigeons" in Sir William Jardine's "Naturalist's Library: Ornithology," published by Lizars, Edinburgh, 1835. Artist Edward Lear (1812-1888), today most famous for his literary nonsense and limericks, was a skilled ornithological artist who published "Illustrations of the Family of Psittacidae or Parrots" in 1832.
