Supermarket. Large supermarket with car park in a retail park. Supermarket chains often build large shops or 'superstores' in areas on the edge of urban centres. These locations allow businesses to offer ample car parking facilities as well as avoid traffic in busy town centres. Superstores also offer a range of goods in one place that would traditionally be provided by a variety of businesses, for example bakeries, chemists and butchers. Superstores have therefore become extremely successful businesses due to their accessibility and convenience, but they have been accused of having a negative impact on small businesses.
