A bone-inlaid German wheellock rifle, circa 1680 Slightly swamped, (somewhat pitted) octagonal barrel with seven-groove rifled bore in 15 mm calibre with dovetailed iron front sight and folding rear sight. Wheellock chiselled on the inside and outside with openwork brass wheel cover. Double set trigger. Walnut full stock with patchbox, profusely decorated with bone inlays depicting hunting scenes and scrolling leaves, the cheek showing a bear attacking a man (front stock contemporarily attached, the inlays at the patchbox and nose added).
