Amongthe best known, most satisfactory and easily obtained are the large Japan-ese snails {Viviparous mallcatns), the so-called African paper shelled 12 GOLDFISH VARIETIES AXD snail (Lymuaea auricnlaria) and the red variety of the European Rams-horn Snail (Flanorbis corneous). These are all active in eating vegetablegrowth from the glass or particles of food which the fish have not taken,and in no case will they injure any of the aquarium plants. The Japanesesnails are very interesting in that they bring forth fully developed youngabout the size of a pea.
