This valuable Melon orig-inated on the borders of the Black Sea, in seeds are so diminutive that a No. 6 thimble willhold fifty-five, whereas it holds only seven of thoseordinary Water Melons, hence the seeds can be swal-lowed without inconvenience. It is very early andvery productive. In shap? it is a short oval, weighingfifteen pounds. The color is a dark mottled green,and that of the flesh a dark red. In taste it is verysweet and rich.
