Professor Virchow informs me that they arealso very frequent in Germany, and he showed me a number of themin the Markisches Museum at Berlin. There is also one in his privatecollection. No. 640 represents an implement of limestone grooved round themiddle, for fastening the strings or thongs by means of which it wasconnected with the net.
