Eczema rash on the face of a 17 year old girl. Eczema is inflammation of the skin, which causes flaking skin, itching and the development of small blisters. If the rash is scratched too much it may become infected. Often there is no apparent cause for an eczema attack, but it is known to be caused by allergic reactions to some materials and drugs. Soothing ointments may relieve the itching, but treatment should be aimed at the underlying cause.
