33. MAXIMILIAN I. Archduke of Austria, was married to MARIE DE BOVRGOIGNE in Ghent, to the great satisfaction of the princes. He fought against the Franks and defeated them, which resulted in the capture of Tournay, MARIE being deceased, the Franks held that the guardianship of the children was theirs, but it was assigned to the father by the States. He was elected Emperor, and reduced the Guelders to reason. He died in Nieustat, Austria, in the year 1519
