Many of the Marine Shells were rarities tn their day, and some of them are still very rarely seen in spite of recent researches and investigations. The Mollusca represented in the collection are divided into three classes:—i. CEPHALoroDA ; 2. Gastropoda; 3. Pele- CYPODA. The Brachiopoda, although included in this Catalogue, are not now classed zvith Molluscct, on account of their dfjerent organism. To make this Catalogue as simple as possible I have added to the technical names, where practicable^ the meanings, and in some cases the popular names where such exist. G. B.
